The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja yesterday,8 Dec. 2015, heard a total of 5 appeals in the April 11, 2015 Akwa Ibom State Governorship Elections.  Umana Umana and APC were represented by Wole Olanipekun (SAN)  while  Damian Dodo (SAN) was Counsel for   Udom Emmanuel and PDP.

In the First Appeal, counsel to Udom Emmanuel, Dodo (SAN),while adopting his brief of argument, urged the court to set aside part of the judgement of the tribunal which nullified election in 18 out of the 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State.
He urged the court to allow the appeal as being meritorious and affirm Udom Emmanuel as the duly elected Governor of the state. While Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Counsel for Umana Umana also adopting his brief of argument prayed the court to dismiss the appellant’s appeal for being unmeritorious.

In the second Appeal, INEC asked the court to set aside the decision of the tribunal which nullified the election in 18 out of 31 LGA. Counsel for INEC, Ipaezu(SAN) prayed  the court to grant INEC reliefs sought against Umana and APC

The court went further to hear three more appeals brought by the parties. Judgments in all 5 appeals have been reserved for a date that will be communicated to all parties.

Now, we wait to know whether there will be re-run of elections in 18 LGA of AKS or  Udom will be asked to Soldier-on as Governor.
Can you imagine how the Umana Umana's camp will take it?  We hope that whichever camp did not win will keep the peace.
