Margaret Bekema, a 97-year-old woman recieved her high school diploma 79 years after she was supposed to graduate at 17 years of age.
She was forced to drop out of Catholic Central High school in Grand Rapids in her junior year to take care of her family; her mother who had cancer and her three young siblings.
After her mother died she did clerical work for the armed forces and subsequently became a pre-school teacher.
Her dream became real as she received her high school diploma on October 29th,2015 amidst emotions.
More often than not, it's never too late to live the dream

The traditional music legend, Chief Uko Akpan from Abak LGA, Akwa Ibom State was today at   the 21st convocation of the University of Uyo awarded a Honorary Doctorate Degree. The leader of the formost cultural group, perhaps have never been to a high school nor a higher institution, but he has put in over 60 years of creativity in the music industry.
 He was and is a household name and a delight to lovers of traditional/cultural music and  deserves  this honour. This honour is probably the first of its kind for University of Uyo.
Others awarded Honourary Doctorate Degree at the convocation included Senator Ita Enang, the Special Assistant to the President on Legislative Matters and Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, billionaire business woman and industrialist.
Congratulation Dr. Uko Akpan Ekpo Umana.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has today dismissed the appeal filed by senate president, Bukola Saraki challenging his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal. He is being tried in a 13 count charge of false asset declaration when he was governor of Kwara State.
The court dismissed the the appeal on the ground that it lacks merit. this means the Code of Conduct Tribunal will continue with Saraki's trial which has been adjourned to November 5th.

All 5 Deputy Comptroller-Generals of the Nigerian Customs service have resigned voluntarily from service. They jointly and unanimously wrote a resignation letter to that effect dated 29th October.

President Buhari on 28th October, appointed a retired colonel, Hameed Ali as the comptroller of Nigerian Customs services. Ali's appointment was met with harsh criticism, especially from the Igbo  activists who accused the president of ignoring the next in command, an Igbo to Appoint a northerner who did not serve in the Customs service before. There is a case in Federal High court, Umuahia  filed against president Buhari  by I. Okonkwo, an Enugu activist challenging the appointment of Ali.

Well, it appears the five senior officers resigned in protest.

EGG WHITE MASK

 

Egg white is an amazing ingredient for reducing aging effects on the face skin.  When used regularly, it removes dead skin cell so that the face becomes clean and bright. It helps tighten the skin and shrink pores, leaving the skin glowing and wrinkles, reduced.

HOW TO:

Put one egg white in a bowl, add( lemon juice  which is rich in vitamin C and organic acids, and is a  great help in the fight against shiny skin, pimples and wrinkles) add almond or olive oil (for dry skin) and whisk very well. Make sure your skin is properly cleansed and rinsed with water to open up the pores, and then you apply the egg white mask on your face and neck in circular upward motion. Leave it for 15- 20 mins. Wash off with normal water.

To reduce puffiness and roughness, whisk egg white with a little quantity of water to make a soothing anti-aging cleanser, wash or cleanse your face with it.

Egg white mix with honey and olive oil to form a mask is an amazing face skin moisturizer, eliminating eye bags upon regular use.

IF you are comfortable with its smell (although lemon juice will reduce the smell of egg) you can leave it on for the whole night and wash it off in the morning with lukewarm/normal water.

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday 28th, October declared 100 suspected Boko Haram sect members wanted.
 Posters of their photograhs have been released to the general public who are expected to provide useful information to the  military and other relevant authorities that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of the militants.

The Senate today confirmed the ministerial appointment of Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers State.
The Senators of the People Democratic Party(PDP) protested against his confirmation on the ground that the many corruption allegations against Amaechi are still being ajudicated upon by the court of law.
The PDP Senators walk -out  was led by Minority Leader of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State.

The Senate confirmation of Amaechi was however, done by All Progressive Congress(APC) senators alone in the absence of PDP senators who had earlier walked out in protect.

The Senate also confirmed the normination of 17 others. They are Adebayo Shittu, Kadjiat Abba Ibrahim, Heineken Lokpobiri, Claidius Omoyele Daramola, Baba Shehuri Mustapha, James Ocholi, Isaac Folorunsho Adewole, Bawa Bwari, Geoffrey Onyeama and Zainab Ahmed, Masur Mohammed Danladi, Usani Uguru, Okechukwu Elemanah, Anthony Anwuka, Mohammed Musa Bello, Adamu Adamu and Aisha Abubakar.

The Supreme Court has uphold the election that brought Rochas Okorocha to office as Governor of IMO State, Nigeria. The court today dismissed the appeal filed by PDP candidate, Emeka Ihedioha as lacking merit .
Okorocha was in April, 2015 declared the winner of the governorship election after a supplementary election was conducted to conclude the inconclusive governorship election in IMO State

Sam Sarpong, a London born TV actor and Model is dead. The MTV star jumped over a bridge to his death on Monday 26th,October in Pasadena, Southern California where he lived. Sarpong had modeled for brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci and Versace . Co hosted the 2006 MTV show 'yo momma'. He also appeared in TV shows such as 'Bones' and 'Boston Public'.
He Acted in movies such as 'farm house', 'love don't cost a thing' and the 2010 'Anchor Baby' with Nigerian actress, Omoni Oboli.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office says the case is being investigated as possible suicide following a report by the Pasadena police that a 40-year-old man jumped from the Colorado street bridge after seven hours attempt to talk him down.

The president of Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara has won a 2nd term of 5 years by 84% of the votes cast. His nearest contender, Pascal Affi  having just 9%.
Although many candidates withdrew from the race saying it was not free and fair, the US election observers said the election was credible.
It could be recalled that Ouattara won election in 2010 but the incumbent, Laurent Gbagbo refused to concede defeat which led to the Killing of over 3000 people. Well, Gbagbo was eventually defeated with the support of France and the UN, by pro-Ouattara forces and is awaiting trial by the ICC.
President Buhari of Nigeria congratulates Ouattara on his landslide victory at the polls and looks forward to working with him to foster and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

The  menu card from the dinner Prince William& Princess Kate had with only 300 close friends and family on their wedding day on April 29, 2011 is up for auction with a starting bid of 650Pounds ($1000).
The dinner menu is printed on thick Ivory card stock with an ornate green Ivy border and showcases a three-course meal. The menu card up for sale actually belonged to a guest and had food stains on it.

The national leadership of the People Democratic Party has summoned an emergency meeting of the party's national caucus. This was necessitated by the Many Election Tribunal Judgments given against the party and its candidates, most recently as it affects Akwa Ibom , Rivers and Delta States.
PDP believes the APC led government is manipulating the system, even the Judiciary to further its plans to overtake the PDP States.
The PDP national publicity secretary, Chief Oisa Metuh said the meeting will hold on Thursday October 29, 2015.
