Last friday April 2nd, Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly fought during their plenary session over the appointment of local council administrators in the state.
The state governor, Tanko Al-Makura had dissolved the boards of the various council administrators after their two-year tenure ended on March 24th.
The governor immediately appointed sole administrators to man the affairs of the Local government areas, a decision that was not welcomed by the state house legislators who according to them, had resolved to immediately conduct elections so that new Local government chairmen can be sworn in.

Yunusa Dahiru, aka Yunusa Yellow, the suspected abductor of a Bayelsa teenager, Ese Oruru, was arraigned at a Federal High Court, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, today, Tuesday.

Yunusa Yellow, was charged for abduction, coercion, seduction into illicit intercourse, sexual exploitation and unlawful carnal knowledge of Miss Oruru.

He was brought to court in handcuffs, dressed in caftan and cap.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, arrived the Federal High Court, Abuja today in handcuffs.

He is accused of receiving N400 million from an arms money diverted by the office of the National Security Adviser. Mr. Metuh has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for about two weeks.

 

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Mr. Olisa Metuh, on the condition that he pays N400 million as bond.

Mr. Metuh is to also submit his international passport, and must provide two sureties with N200 million each. The sureties must have properties in Maitama district of Abuja.

There was a stand-off at the presidential villa, Abuja, as members of the BBOG group campaigning for the release of school girls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok in 2014, insisted they be allowed to meet Mr. Buhari.

Members of the group were instead met by a government team comprising the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Al-Hassan; Minister of Defense, Monsur Dan-Ali; National Security Adviser, Mohammed Monguno; and the Chief of Defense Staff, Abayomi Olonishakin.

A spokesperson for the BBOG and former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili, said they had earlier met with the president on July 8, and that they were at the villa to discuss the promises he made to them.

Women affairs minister, Mrs. Alhassan, said the president, who at the time was meeting with President Boni Yayi of Benin, could not make time to meet the BBOG team, because of the short notice given by the group.

After the group refused the back down, the NSA left to inform Mr. Buhari of the group’s insistence to see him personally. He returned with words that the president will meet the group at the Banquet Hall of President Villa. After rounding up his meeting with Beninese leader, Boni Yayi, President Buhari has arrived at the Banquet Hall at the presidential villa, for a meeting with the Bring Back Our Girls group to discuss Sensitive issues. He was accompanied  by several other top officials, including the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai. Newsmen were excused from the meeting. According to the spokeperson for the BBOG group, after the meeting, the president said that he sleeps and wakes up with the Chibok girls in mind.

 Aero Contractors Airlines used a ladder, literally, to disembark passengers from a Boeing 737 aircraft at the Bauchi airport on Saturday December 19th 2015.

According to the Hon. Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika,  the act is inconsistent with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS).

The Honourable Minister has directed an immediate investigation into the use of this unauthorized equipment by Aero Contractors Airlines.

The investigation will determine the immediate and remote causes of the incident with a view to developing and implementing measures that will prevent a reoccurrence of the unsafe and unacceptable procedure that exposed passengers who have paid for comfort and safety to high risk of serious injury.
