It is quite unfortunate that a huge number of women flipping the pages of a magazine would want to look like the girl in the magazine. Well the irony is, the girl in the magazine doesn't even look like the girl in the magazine, not in real life. We are in the era of photo shopping.

So as it happens, movie star, Kerry Washington who is on the cover of ADWEEK magazine, April edition, is not happy about her 'photoshopped' image. The Scandal star is weary that she looks nothing like herself on the cover.

"..... I was taken aback by the cover......i'm no stranger to photoshopping. it happens a lot. in a way we have become a society of picture adjusters......i have had the opportunity to address the impact of my altered image in the past...
....yesterday, however i just felt weary. it felt strange to look at a picture of myself that is so different from what i look like when i look in the mirror. it's an unfortunate feeling....
....that being said, i'm very proud of the article.... i like some of the inside images a great deal..."

 Anita Oyakhilome has  finalised  divorce from  Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of Believers Love World INC., aka, Christ Embassy. According to her lawyers, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors,  she has severed all ties from the ex-husband's church,  Christ Embassy, and is now know as Anita Ebhodaghe, having dropped Oyakhilome from her name. The divorce was finalised on February 8, 2016
 It could be  recalled that sometime in 2014, Anita had filed for divorce from pastor Chris stating that her relationship with the later had terribly degenerated that there was no room for any reconciliaton or out of court settlement.

The Cablenews website reported on August 29,2014 that Anita had filed for divorce since April 2014, accusing pastor Chris of adultry and unreasonable behaviour. On his part, pastor Chris denied the allegations and advised his members to stay out of his marital problems.

Needless to say that the divorce saga was all over print and social media with millions trying to make head of why they should divorce and what it will do to the church. Well, 2 years after, it has been put to rest. They are both now single, or not.  Christ Embassy's single sisters watch and pray. You could be the choosen one. Afterall pastor Chris saw and married Anita in church.

Fathe Ejike Mbaka who was recently transfered to a  new post at the Our Lady Parish, Emene has described his ‎re-posting by the church as a “calculated move” to make him suffer.

 

The controversial priest said  "I know we are going to suffer within now and few months to come,” the priest said. I am going to suffer and suffer; I know that. I’m going to suffer because I have no place to put my head. I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the Adoration Ministry’s assets. I know I’m going to suffer.”

 

Public criticisms had greeted the Enugu Diocese’s recent decision to transfer Mr. Mbaka out of Christ the King Parish‎, GRA, where he had served for over 10 years and also established a popular prayer ministry called The Adoration Prayer Ministry where thousands of Catholics  and indeed others throop to for  prayers, healing and miracles.

 

Well, In its reaction to the controversy over the transfer, the catholic church yesterday clarified the issue, said the posting was not meant to be punitive. That the Bishop has the right to post any priest wherever he feels his service would be more useful to the church.

 

The Secretary-General of the Catholic Secretar‎iat of Nigeria, Reverend Father Ralph Madu said transfer of priests within the catholic church is a “normal church procedure" and “Mbaka’s own is not an exception,”

 

 Is that so? Well, there are speculations by the general public that his being moved to another parish was a punishment for his firm  support of a Muslim candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari, over his Christian predecessor, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan. It can be recalled that during last year’s general election process,  Father Mbaka had told a gathering of thousands of catholic faithfuls at his Adoration Prayer Ground ministry to vote out the incumbent, president Goodluck Jonathan.

 

But Mr. Madu in an interview with the media insist that  “such frivolities ‎have nothing to do with the posting". He said Mr. Mbaka had done things that were unacceptable to the church in the past but received no punishments for them.

 

So, people, It is just a posting.

A south African Appeals court has found the double-amputee Olympic star, Oscar Pistorius guilty of  murder by overturning an earlier lesser conviction of manslaughter.

Oscar was convicted last year of manslaughter for killing his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on 2013 valentine day, at a high-profile court case dubbed "the trial of the century" as it was the first ever court case to be  broadcast live on South Africa Television and a popular topic in the News and social media globally.

The sport star claimed he mistook his girlfriend for a buglar and fired four shots into a looked toilet cubicle in self defence.

Pistorius who is out on bail( and on house arrest) having served a year of his five-year sentence for manslaughter, now faces a 15-year jail sentence, which is the mandatory minimum in South Africa for a murder conviction. Lucky him that he is not in Nigeria, because here as long as you are convicted of murder, there is but one sentence, death by hanging. No minimum sentence, only maximum sentence for murder.

The Olympic Icon who won numerous gold medals as a paralympian 400 sprinter, made history when he won the right to compete and competed at the 2012 London Olympic games. He became an international celebrity of some sort.

He was born without bones in his lower legs which were amputated when he was a child. He is kown as the "blade runner" because of the blade-like appendages that disabled athletes use for sprinting.

 

This is quite a tragedy. 'A human tragedy of Shakespearean proportion', as the South African court of appeals decribed it.

Two weeks ago  or thereabout when the LFDW 2015 took place, I read a report/update of the show where the people in it were profiled, I remember noting that Dimeji was introduced as many things but not as the Editor of Genevieve Magazine and I wondered why, that was before he announced officially that he was resigning from the Magazine.  Well, he opens up on why he left in an interview with Made Magazine where he covers the 2nd edition(November) of  Made Edit.

You recently resigned from your post as Editor of  Genevieve magazine after almost two years. What happened?

".....I love being alive. and I love being free. so if i can't have those  things, then i feel like a cages animal....as a creative person, you do need time to vet ideas, love and hate them, crap and come up with something else. I barely had that time at Genevieve, everything was moving so fast, and i was dealing with exhaustion...."
