PETROL SCARCITY: Tale Of Deserted Streets.(photos)

0

So the petrol situation has gotten so bad in most parts of Nigeria that the streets or roads as it were, are near deserted, mostly by motorist.
This is so because the situation had graduated from getting petrol at a hike price (from N200 to N500) to having your money but no where to buy petrol as nearly all d filling stations are shut down per time. So one can actually drive for miles or all over town without a place to buy.
Many have resorted to trekking as transport fare has gone up too with some routes not having vehicles. Others park their cars to join public transit.
Which way Nigeria?
We do hope this situation will abate before this week runs out.

Aging Is A Privilege

0

Yes! Do Not Regret Growing Older For It Is A Privilege Denied Many. Ever heard of the saying "when there is life, there is hope"? ofcourse you have. Many have been denied the privilege to live their dreams. They have gone to the grave with untapped potentials.  No wonder the Late Myles Munreo, a renowned author and motivational speaker, said that the cemetry is the richest place in the world.

You are bless with life. year after year, you are alive. Be grateful. Be the best of you. I know that some times regret may creep in because of unfulfilled dreams. You are at a certain age but not satisfied with what you have to show for being on earth for that long.  I know the feeling. As a teenager I had written down things I would do before I turned 30, but I celebrated my 30th birthday without achieving half of that list. Yea! I know that feeling, but then I was grateful to God for the blessings I got that i never imagined to put on that list but that have made my life better. I know that as long as i am alive. i can be anything i want to be, no matter my age.

Embrace the privilege to be alive. Forget your age. Stop looking at the calender. Rather, identify and access the boundless opportunities around you. see possibilities. see your dreams come to life.

All The Best

Dimeji Alara Opens Up On Why He Left Genevieve Magazine, Regrets And What's Next.

0

Two weeks ago  or thereabout when the LFDW 2015 took place, I read a report/update of the show where the people in it were profiled, I remember noting that Dimeji was introduced as many things but not as the Editor of Genevieve Magazine and I wondered why, that was before he announced officially that he was resigning from the Magazine.  Well, he opens up on why he left in an interview with Made Magazine where he covers the 2nd edition(November) of  Made Edit.

 EXCERPTS:

You recently resigned from your post as Editor of  Genevieve magazine after almost two years. What happened?

".....I love being alive. and I love being free. so if i can't have those  things, then i feel like a cages animal....as a creative person, you do need time to vet ideas, love and hate them, crap and come up with something else. I barely had that time at Genevieve, everything was moving so fast, and i was dealing with exhaustion...."

We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

SUNDAY BEST: SIMPLE DOES IT

0

And by simple, i mean; simple fabric, simple style and simple accessories.  A simple Outfit can actually be that elegant look you need on a Sunday.

Notice how I accessorised the multicolor fabric with cream n brown, warm n mild colours. The contrast is  subtle to keep eyes on the main outfit, mostly.

You could opt for a more bright colour  to match with d colours in the fabric; like yellow, green and turquoise blue, depending on your mood and the occasion. Whatever the case be sure to look your best.
Happy new week. All d best in your endeavors.

WEDDING GUEST: MY LITTLE YELLOW LACE-DRESS

4

(Late post)
So  I had this friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend's wedding  to attend but somehow amidst my schedules I completely forgot about it until the very day of the wedding when I got a phone call  from my friend asking if I was ready. Needless to say I wasn't. I mean I had plans for the day that did not include a wedding. But my girlfriend will have none of that.  So what do i do? oh my God, what do i wear? A swift trip to my closet made me even more anxious as i couldn't readily put an outfit together.
Well, after almost an hour in the "valley of indecision", so to speak, I uncovered my little yellow lace-dress, gladly, it was like seeing an old friend again (except my LYD isn't old). I thought of how to style it and quickly decided that color-blocking was the way to go. And I was on point cos' compliments kept coming in at the wedding. Nothing like colours to get you Noticed. *wink*
So my little  yellow lace-dress saved the day.
Sometimes, the outfit that you didn't spend all day planning and styling could elegantly be on point.

NIGERIA: WHY PETROL CANNOT BE SOLD FOR N87 PER LITRE

1

The scarcity and persistent increase in the pump price of petrol  is no longer News in virtually all parts of Nigeria as the resultant effect is being felt by all and sundry directly or indirectly. . Nigerians have wondered what the problem could be in the face of  CHANGE promised the nation. Well, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have opened up to say that they cannot sell petrol at the government fixed price of N87/litre because they get the product at N95/litre instead of N77.66k/litre from private Tank Farms/ Depots who they patronized because of lack of petrol at nearby NNPC Depots.

The IPMAN chairman, National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) depot in Ibadan, Alhaji Olakunle Busari, while adressing Newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, weighed in on the issue and stated that the hike in price might persist if the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) does not take proactive measures to caution private tank farms from selling the commodity to independent marketers beyond the regulated N77.66k per litre and for the marketers to sell at N87 per litre.

In Akwa Ibom State where petrol is sold above N150/litre, it has been speculated that the Independent marketers cannot transport petrol from Calabar Depot because of the deteriorating state of Calabar-Akwa Ibom road. This may not be far from the truth, or it might just be a  cover story for those who want to hoard petrol and sell at high price.

The hike in price and scarcity of petrol has brought hardship to the masses. Yesterday I bought petrol for N160/litre after i finally found it in a certain filling station. I hope the Federal Government, NNPC and DPR will do something about this fast .

GOLDEN EAGLETS Wins FIFA U-17 World Cup For The 5th Time

0

The Nigerian U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets has won the FIFA U-17 world cup yet again. They retained the trophy as defending champions after a 2-0 win against Mali, making it a record 5th time win for Nigeria, having won in 1985, 1993, 2007 and  2013

The boys have been congratulated by Nigerians, including President Buhari, Yakubu Dogara, speaker house of reps, Governor Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Wike of Rivers State and The peoples Democratic Party(PDP),

The Malian coach, Baye Ba,  in reaction to the Golden Eaglets' victory, had this to say;

"It was a tough match. Nigeria was well-placed and we often acted very unorganized. We didn't pay attention twice and conceded two goals. It is how it is. One team wins because the other team makes mistakes. It is the first time Mali reached the final. If you believe that you can win a game, then you are sad when you lose. Nevertheless we can be very proud. Not many teams reach the second place. Our goal is to have a senior team who can win. We will continue our work. Everything is installed in our youth programs so that we will reach another final in the future."

 And Nigerian Coach, Emmanuel Amunike, had this to say;

"It was a beautiful and entertaining match. I think the people in the stadium enjoyed it today. We knew that Mali are technically very strong, have great individual players and are very fast. We wanted to make no mistakes but we lost the ball many times in the midfield in the first half. But I don't want to complain because they are all kids. We changed some things in the second half and made some substitutes. That brought us more safety in our game. We are thankful for everything. We wanted to bring the players to their dreams and we did it. Thanks for the support. We feel like we are at home. We have worked very hard for this success and we hope to continue. The players will go home now but their journey is not over yet. Personally I'm really happy. I have football in my blood, as a player and as a coach. This is what I want to pass to my players."

KEMZ AT LAST: Gist Of My Long Lost Friend

3
Yes! after over 20 years, I reunited with my primary school bestie, Ekemini(Kemz to me).

                                        Kemz

I met kemz when i was in primary 4 (it has to be). She had just moved into town with her parents. So she was not only a new face in school but also a symbol of something-from-out-of-town.
Her desk was next to mine and we wasted no time in becoming best friends. we played together during and off school hours. we ate together during lunch breaks.
I still remember her mum's sugar-coated yam chips which i indulged. yes! I remember. when you are a sweet tooth, such memory can stay with you.*wink*
We also competed academically, and kemz relentlessly gave me a run for the first position. I do not know if she thought that taking first position in class was her birthright and the rest of us only came to escort her. seriously! anyway, she was my bestie, so i couldn't have had issues with her but, with her brain, that apparently could only comprehend "first position", so to speak. I made sure it wasn't an easy run for her n her brain(or that's what I choose to remember now)-hehehe! For real, though.
Anyways, it so happened that her dad was transferred while i was out of town and we didn't have our goodbye moments. And that was it. we lost touch. I had no idea where she was exactly. In-between the last 20 years I would hear some  info about her but nothing reliable. but about three months ago i decided to search for her. thanks gracious for Facebook. I found her (not as easy as it sounds though cos she is a "Dr. Mrs." now), dropped my GSM number and she called me. it was beyond awesome, i have to say.
Well, after a handful of phone calls and failed fixed meetings, we finally reunited "in flesh". it was great. i had no idea that i missed her that much. We did a lot of catching-up and will continue in the days to come, for such.
Photos from reunion...

                                   yea! we good like that

selfie was definitely on the list-of-things-to-do

and that smile crowned it all. it was a great reunion.

The collection by the luxury french house headed by Oliver Rousteing is gone, the entire men's and women's line. The stores are cleaned out.

photos of satisfied customers

Because of months of teasing and campaigns by the fashion house, fashion lovers and enthusiast waited in high anticipation for the released of the collection set for November 5, 2015. And it was complete chaos before and during the collection launch. Shoppers camped overnight and even for days at H&M locations and shops days before the released of the collection. unfortunately many of them were not lucky to grab any piece before the stores were emptied of the Balmain collection. shoppers were going out of their minds in the stores and over their laptops. there were struggles and stampede, literally at different stores where shoppers rushed to purchase items.

shoppers who did not wait in vain.

The H&M designer collaboration with Balmain started official campaigns months ago, and worked with models such as; Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dun, Hao Yun Xiang and Dudley O' Shaughnessy, to showcase pieces from the collection.
the campaign was shot by renowned fashion photographer, Mario Sorrenti

I particularly like the beaded and embroidered pieces. such beautiful details.

 a lucky shopper.

so much fuse. don't you think? i hope it was worth the wait and stress for those who were lucky to purchase items. for those who were not so lucky, such is life. suck it up and go home or wait  a little more longer and replicas of the collection might be selling soon. and shoppers who bought during the launch might put their pieces up for sale online. No be small thing.
